This a specific practice based in Create and exploit overload from a Kick off build up.3 block x 5 min and 2 minutes rest between blocks.
11 outfield players + GK for the reds.
Red team building up with a 4-2-3-1 but we took out the two wide attacking midfielders (replaced by the goals and in the halfway line) and the striker.
Blue team trying to stop the overload with a 4-3-3 formation with only the Three front players and the front and two center midfielders.
Session made in a Half pitch line with a strong focus on the movement of our two CDM that will be a key role with their movements to create the overload around the blues.
Our CB in the 18th yard box line ready to support the goalkeeper in the goalkick.
Full back permanently paying attention to how high the pressing its currently and been able to support CB when the attackers jump into pressing them.
Challenge:
Coaching points:
Problem 1: Blue team apply a very high pressure and very narrow compact that stop the team from progress quickly and from playing central passes.
Solutions: Ask midfielders to come join with a lower position to create and overload on the ball side.have our full backs coming to lower position in the line. Consider to one of the midfielders to find options behind the back of the midfielders. And one of them to swap position with full back with the aim to make the opposition lose reference.
Problem 2: Blue team trying to wait for the red team and apply a much more conservative position in the pitch. letting the red team progressing in the beginning but locking the spaces in the middle and forcing our team defensive line to go out further from the back.
