Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): SNB 2

1v1 in a triangle (20 mins)

Set up: Set up as shown. Each side of the triangle should be 7-12 m depending on ability and athleticism. The goals or gates should be 3-5 m.

Instructions: Black goes 1v1 against white. Black can score in either of the two opposing goals, but not in his or her own. If white wins the ball, the same rule applies. If a goal is scored then goal scoring team attacks again. If the ball goes out of bounds then the original attacker immediately becomes the defender against the third colour. And play continues in this vein. Ensure that there are enough soccer balls that the game flows.

Coaching Points: Explode to the open goal. Be creative. One good feint with a change of pace is better than a bunch of feints that don't go anywhere. Always attentive to what is going to happen next, stay focused. Be decisive. Immediate transition from attack to defence (be aware of where the next attack will be coming from).
