Running with the ball and passing (10 mins)

One player from each side go at the same time:

  • Players dribble straight from the first red cone to the second red cone
  • They then dribble diagonally to the edge of the second square
  • At the edge of the square they perform a turn and dribble forward
  • They then stop at the next cone and play a pass
  • After the pass has been made they join the back of the queue

Attacking overload or piggy in the middle (10 mins)

A quick fire attacking overload drill, this can be a 3v1 or a 3v2, I’d suggest starting with a 3v1 and then progress to a 3v2.

The attacking team starts with the ball, all attacking players have to touch the ball before they can shoot, as soon as the ball goes dead start again with attack and defence switching places,

Encourage attackers to draw in defenders before playing the pass. If the drill is too easy move to a 3v2.

As an alternative play a 4 v1 piggy in the middle for 2 minutes before switching teams.

1v1 (10 mins)

The defender starts with the ball and plays a pass to the attacker, the attacker then attempts to beat the defender one on one and score. If the defender wins the ball they can counterattack and score.
