Juggling Warm-up (5 mins)

Organization: Players either spaced out or in a large grid

Objective: To attain set number of juggles without ball hitting the ground

Juggling Requirements - Minimum Standard

U11 - Above = 200 Juggles    

Coaching Points:

  • Right foot, left foot only
  • Ladder Juggling: 1 juggle catch, 2 juggle catch, 3 juggle catch, etc. (for younger teams and players struggling)
  • Foot, foot, thigh, thigh (REPEAT)

Dribbling/Passing Lanes

Setup: Two lanes with cones yards apart in length (20 yards total).  Middle cone should be a different color signaling midway point.

Objective: Players will perform various exercises as a warmup .  After each segment players will stretch

Movements: 3 minutes per movement 

  • Dribble with right foot to midway point, then pass the ball to other side and follow pass (switch feet)
  • Dribble to midway point and execute a skill then pass ball to other side and follow pass
  • Two touch passing, receive and then play to other side and follow pass

Touches

Setup:

3 cones lined up in a triangle 3 yards apart from each other with one more cone 4 yards from the triangle.  Players start at the top of the triangle and check to outside of cone and use various touches with different surfaces of the foot and body then run around the top cone and go to the other side and repeat touches opposite side.

Variations:

  • Inside foot, right and left
  • Inside Volleys, right and left
  • Inside Half Volleys, right and left
  • Laces Volleys, right and left
  • Thigh to Volley, right to left
Time: 1 minute then switch.  After each variation switch partners

Coaching Points:

  • Full Speed Movement
  • Quality Touches
  • Be Vocal, ask for the Ball

Dribbling to Receive w/Combination Passing

Setup:

Four cones lined up 3 yards apart with 4 poles set up 8-10 yards from last cone in a diamond shape

Actions:


Player A begins by dribbling in and out of the four cones then plays to player B who opens to right side of pole.  Player B plays a one touch back to player A back foot.  Player A then plays to player C who receives inside back foot and then touches outside back foot and looks to play to player D.  Player D bumps back to player C who plays a switching ball to player E who bumps to player D.  Player D plays into player B who then one touches out wide to player E’s run.  Player E plays it back to player A and we repeat.  Players rotate to their right.
