Warm-Up (5 mins)

Organisation:

-All players

-Area: quarter of the field

Players in 18 yard box Practicing ball mastery skills, 1v1 moves, and keep-ups.

Coaching Points:

-Agility, balance, changing speeds/directions

-Close control, lots of touches, use of moves, changes of speed/directions

-Awarness of space/players around them

Global- with Endzone (10 mins)

Organization:

-see above set-up and equipment

-area approx. 25x30 yards (adapt for age/ability/numbers)

-endzones are 5 yards

-5v5 depending on numbers

Activity:

-Players try to dribble the ball into the endzones (must stop the ball withcontrol in the endzone to be awarded a goal).

-look to suck the defender in and make a pass to your teammates

Coaching Points:

-look for opportunities to progress with the ball - why/when/where?

-use proper technique passing the ball ( ankles locked, part of the ball/foot)

-movement off the ball to create space and support your teammates

-communicate (e.g. tell teammates when they can turn and go).

-close dribbling in tight areas

-accelerate/rwb into open spaces

-use of both feet and all surfaces of feet

-quick decision-making - take your space if it is there

-look to attack defender, suck them in and make pass to open teammate

transition 2vs1 (15 mins)

Setup

-half field

-two teams - even out the groups

-bunch of balls

-2 goals

Activity attacking transition 2-1

-coach plays a pass into the (red) attacking team for a 2vs1

-as the ball is played out 1 (white) defender comes out and defend.

-if attacking Red team scores or ball goes out of bounds, or the person who shot the ball or lost control of the ball becomes the defender for a 2vs1 going the other way, The coach will quickly play a passs into the white team for a 2vs1 attack going the other way. After a goal, or ball out of bounds play keeping going

Coaching Points-

-attack the defender with speed

-quick decesion making

-communications

-suck in the defender

-good passing

-shoot to score

-movement off the ball

Defending side-

-pressure the attacker

-don't dive in

-force them outside away from goal

-quickly get back and defend against the 2vs1

-quickly transition to attack
