Defender starts with ball behind post. Dribbles up to the edge of the box and passes the ball to the attacking team at the opposite end of the pitch. Once an attacker recieves the ball, the defender immediately presses and the attacking team play 2V1 to try and score in the main goal. If the defender wins the ball, they recieve a point but they can earn an additional point if they can score in one of the mini-goals. Rotate defenders and attackers after each set.

Red team has an overload. Aim is to make 5 consecutive passes before breaking out into one of the scoring zones and having a shot on goal. Blue team's aim is to win the ball and break out straight into either scoring zone and score past the keeper. Only 1 attacker is allowed in the scoring zone-unopposed.

Bring each team together to talk about what has gone well in the game so far and one aspect that they could do better.
Coaches to be based with each team and ask:
Reds-What 2/3 aspects do we need to do well as a team to be able to retain the ball?
Blues-What 2/3 aspects do we need to do really well to win the ball and breakout quickly?
Say to the players that we will be looking to see if they can do the 2/3 aspects they identified really well and we will rate each team out of 3 stars at the end of the game for how well they did at those challenges.

Same game as previously but this time 1 defender is allowed to go into the scoring zone to try and stop the attacker from scoring. Eventually progress the drill to allow 2v1 in the scoring zones.

Play a normal SSG but give teams individual challenges when they win the ball:
Reds need to try and make at least 5 passes before they can score (retaining possession)Extra goal if they can make the 8 passes before scoring
Blues need to try and move the ball forward as quickly as possible (direct counter attack) Extra goal if they can score a goal in 7 passes or less

Key Factors
Add players to each pitch as they arrive, moving from 1 v 1, 1 v 2, 2 v 2 and so on.
Organisation
Two pitches each with a "scoring zone" at each end of the pitch. Players must dribble or pass into the zone to a teammate before they can score.
