Breaking Lines
Organisation - Breaking Lines
Area - 40x40 box with a row of cones in the middle (like the line in the picture)
Players - 17
Description - split the teams evenly if they can, then put two players from each of the teams over the other side who are stood on their own. The other side should have 7-8 players (number depending).
The ball will be with the side who has the most players. They will have to make 4 passes and then once they have made the four passes they need to transfer the ball into the player in the other side.
Once the ball reaches the player in the other side then 6 or 7 players will transfer across to the other side with the player who was on their own. There will be one player from both teams left int he area they moved from.
The player who receives the ball in the other area can not be tackled until their whole team is over the other side.
Progressions
- make the pitch smaller so instead of it being 40x40, make it go to 30x30. This will make the players think about the amount of touches on the ball they can have and their body position.
- Take the middle parting out, this will then show you if they have understood the concept of what breaking lines looks like.
