Step 1

Step 1

  • Organisation: Keep the noodle between 2 players and move from one side to the other while throwing a ball to eachother.
  • Accents: Players must achieven 7 passes before reaching the D.
  • Differentiation Throw the ball from left to left hand (switch hands).

Step 2

Step 2

Organisation: Keep the noodle between 2 players and move in a zigzag towards baseline. The attacker (outside player) chooses he/she wants to round. Defender must react to keep the noodle straight. Swap between Attacker and defender roles.

Accents: Keeping the noodle straight means the right distance between attacker and defender.

Step 3

Step 3
Organisation: Defender with a noodle, attacker with stick and ball. Defender starts at outside cone and taps inside cone with foot to indicate start of the drill. Attacker must pass through the tunnel with the ball and avoid the defender’s noodle.

Accents: Defender should try to jab instead of hit the ball, creating more chances to pressure the attacker.

Step 4

Step 4

  • Organisation: Extra player passes the ball between the cone where the defender is standing and the marker to the attacker. Once the ball has passed over the cone and marker line the defender can tap the marker. Then immediately the attacker and defender play a 1vs1.

  • Accents:
  • Keep right distance (noodle-distance!) when defending.
  • B) Adjust footwork to drive attacker to baseline.
  • C) Close inside/Backhand side with your body to drive the attacker to baseline.
  • Hold the right distance between you and the attacker
  • Channel with your stick in forehand position.
  • Feet towards the baseline
  • Mirror you right foot on the right foot of the attacker
  •

  • Differentiation: If there are no goalies, the player who passed the ball can round a cone and join the 1vs1, creating a 1(attacker)vs2(defenders).

Step 5

Step 5

  • Organisation: Same as step 4 but with an extra attacker and defender in the D.
  • Accents: Continue playing the 1vs1 in the same manner.
  • Differentiation: When the defenders win the ball they can drive it outside of the D (on the same side as where they started) and play a turnover.

Step 6 1 v 1 Links

Step 6
  • Organisation: Same as step 4, but on the left side.
  • Accents: Same as step 4. There is a differentiation between when the defender is beat on the outside or has delayed the attacker. If the defender is beat, the defender should try to keep the attacker on the baseline and channel him to the goalie. If the defender has time to adjust he can try to push the attacker to the inside (over his forehand).
  • Differentiation: If there are no goalies the player who passed the ball can round a cone and join the 1vs1, creating a 1vs2.

Step 7 2v2

Step 7

  • Organisation: Same as step 4 but with an extra attacker and defender in the D.
  • Accents: Continue playing the 1vs1 in the same manner.
  • Differentiation: When the defenders win the ball they can drive it outside of the D (on the same side as where they started) and play a turnover.

Step 8 END GAME

  • Organisation: Drill starts on the Right side. Players play a 1vs1 in Step 4, there is no turnover. When this is done, these players stay in the D and join the next 1vs1 starting on the left (as in Step 6), effectively making it a 2vs2, no turnover. All players stay in the D, the next 1vs1 starts on the right side (as in step 4), creating a 3vs3. When the defenders (hopefully!) win the ball they can drive it outside of the D on the sides and play a turnover.
  • Accents: Keep the same principles as discussed in the steps before.
  • Differentiation: Add a turnover possibility in the 2vs2.
