Overview
- All players to middle third and press / look to engage when in middle third / usually at half way line
- Players move as a unit with play
- Prioritises horizontal and vertical compactness
Pros
- Makes it difficult for opponents to play between the lines
- Opponents go around not through
- Protects space in behind
Cons
- Least aggressive defensive structure
- May limit attacking options when possession regained

Invite build up then press middle third
Overview
- Press initiated in middle third or around 25-30 yards out
- Players move as a unit with play
- Prioritises horizontal and vertical compactness
Pros
- Makes it difficult for opponents to play between the lines
- Opponents go around not through
- Wins possession 25-35 yards out, which allows us to transition quick and play in behind
Cons
- Less aggressive form of press
- Can be prone to long balls from defenders in behind high defensive line

Overview
- Man for man pressing
- Most aggressive form of press with high risk reward
Cons
- Most risky press, which strong technical teams can play through
- Big gaps horizontally and vertically (particularly between midfield and defence)
- Like all high / mid pressing options, creates gaps in behind for quick counters
