Passing exercise that can cause much confusion - takes focus
Players on the outside in a circle, other players behind one at starting point
One player (to start) in the middle
Starting point player passes ball into middle, follows pass
Receiver collects, plays it out to the first player on their left side - follows pass
REPEAT around the entire circle
Add in players in the middle and balls to require more thought/focus - look for 12 players per grid (6 circle spots)
CPs: quality technique, focus while under pressure, communication, fix errors

Teaching basic technique for individual pressure defending
Work in pairs!
Start at red cone sprint out to blue cone, break down, shuffle back to red cone
Go to yellow cone, shuffle back to red cone
Go to orange cone, shuffle back to red cone
REPEAT starting the opposite way
Variations - Coach calls cone to get to (do quickly), relay race for everyone to get through (must do correct technique)
CPs: fast to five then slow to five, bend knees, up on balls of the feet, side on (force a direction), communication (on the ball), not trying to steal the ball just delay. FIRST DEFENDER'S JOB IS TO DENY PENETRATION (DELAY)

Stay in same pairs as Basic Pair Passing
Get in circular grid, with pairs across from each other. Have pairs pass to each other to see how many passes can be connected in 30-60 seconds.
Progression: Yellows and Greens can pass to each other. Blues and Reds can pass to each other
Progression 2: Must pass to a different color than yourself
Progression 2a: Must pass to a different color than yourself and who passed it to you.
Progression 3: Make a pass then change positions with another player
CPs: Paying attention to surroundings, think about options, quality execution, prepare body

Field - Setup up 5 cones by 3 cones. Approximately 5 yards by 5 yards per box (adjust as needed)
Can play 3v3v3v3 or 4v4v4v4 (adjust as necessary). Must stay in own channel
Team with the ball is looking to pass through the defending channel to teammates in other channel. If successful, repeat back.
Defending team looking to properly pressure, cover, and balance (three layers of defending).
Switch outsides to insides after a time, reps, or score.
CPs - communication, thinking, working (must move up and back aggressively but under control), win the ball when possible. (note: encourage attacking teams to be aggressive and take chances in passing the ball through the defending channel)

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set up field 36 long by 44 wide
Teams of three on the field, must stay on their side (no crossing 18)
Ball tossed in from sideline
Each player has two touches (after initial touch) to shoot
After shot:
1) blocked or saved and in play = keep playing
2) blocked and out of play = shooting team stays
3) missed goal = defending team stays
4) score goal = scoring team stays and switches ends - new team comes on
CPs: Think about how to best get a shot, type of shot to strike

Free Dribble (10 mins)
Each player has a ball on one pitch - u8 field size.
Players dribble freely around the space, looking to avoid other players.
Coach adds various tasks to the exercise by calling:
Toe Touches, Tic-Tocs, Pull Backs, Cruyffs, Rolls, Scissors.
Also can include - find a new ball. Dribble to the closest line. Dribble to the furthest line. Groups of 4,5,6, etc. Air juggle 4 times (catch and kick), speed dribble, slow dribble, outside foot, laces. Be creative in commands.
Where is the space?
Progression: Drop out 2/3 of balls and incorporate passing (focus on players off the ball)
CPs: Players putting forth effort, encourage trying new moves, have fun with the ball, get your head up to avoid collisions, where is the space?
