5 teams RWB practice (25 mins)
Organsiation:
- 5 teams (5-6 per team)
- 4 goals- 2x5v5 pitches (40x30y)
- Central zone between the pitches for the defending team (5x3y)
Description:
- 4 attacking teams have a goal each (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow)
- Each team nominates a goal keeper
- One team defends (Black) and starts in the central shaded area
- All outfield players have a ball except the defending team
Attacking team aim:
- On the coaches whistle the attackers try to score at the opposite goal
Defending team aim:
- The defenders try to win the ball and get the ball back to their shaded area by passing or dribbling for a point.
- Must do this within 5 seconds of winning the ball
- Defending team can only send out 2 defenders into each half
- Defenders must organise this themselves and also must rotate defenders each time
- Players must talk to each other and work out who will defend next
- This will assist in organisation as a team and help with developing leadership
Notes:
- Rotate so all teams defend once- All to attack twice with each group that defends before rotating
- Ensure all teams attack from near to defending group and far from defending group
- Could start with the defending team calling "Go". This would assist with a more player lead activity
Progressions:
- Add a time limit for the attackers to score (shot clock). For example, 10 seconds to get a shot off
- Players to attack in pairs with one ball: This works on decision making, whether to pass or dribble and using your team mate as a decoy
-Defenders can choose to send out 2 players to defend against a pair: decision making and tactics according to opponents
Keys:
Attackers:
- Awareness of space when dribbling in front
- Distance of touch when dribbling- is your opponent near or far? Is your opponent quicker or slower than you?
- Change of speed when dribbling
- Disguise on the ball- Tricks, body feints
Transition:
- React to losing possession quickly
- Win ball back or delay
Defenders:
- Communicaiton- who defends who and when
- How do you defend a player dribbling at you when you approach from the side/coming straight towards you?
- Distance, body position, speed of approach, angle of approach
Transition:
- Speed of dribble or pass to team mate
- Retain ball
