1v1 Transition game (10 mins)

2 teams split evenly, 2 goals on each end offset from each other.

- 1v1 begins, one player with ball (GREEN)  attacking other team goal to try and score.

- once the player scores, the defending player leaves the field, at the same time RED adds a new player who is now the attacker, GREEN attacker now transitions and tries to defend oncoming attacker. Game flows until a desired score is met.

Notes: Can we teach our players transitioning attacking and defending principles, Quick reactions to go from scorer to defender?

          - can we score early to avoid being caught too far up the field and having to chase instead of setting up and blocking the route to goal for opposition.

Progression based on skill level:

   -  Create a time based game, (give players 5-10 seconds to score, once time ends, next attacker goes straight in)

   - add a neutral player as a bounce pass to encourage pass and move play style

4 Shot rotation game (10 mins)

4 shots per player per rotation (try to keep as high intensity and fast paced as possible.)

- Shots 1 and 2 are hit into the "SHOOTING ZONE" 1 touch to control, 1 to finish

- Shots 3 and 4 are crosses, ideally first time shots if possible, for lower ability, look for 1 touch control and 1 touch finish. ( get around cones quick to meet the cross, not standing still)

- Once all players from 1st team have gone, swap roles.

Older ages and higher skill level progression:

- Crosses in the air, encourage using head, volleys , chest etc.

- Use weaker foot to build balance.

3v1+1 (10 mins)

Depending on numbers, split into two games or have 1 game with overloaded team with a neutral, (4v2+1, 5v2+1)

- Overloaded team looks to connect 5 passes for a point, 3 points wins the game

- Defending team looks to press, if they recover the ball, they look to score on net for a point and can use neutral to help with the attack.

Progression:

- add more passes 10=1 point.

- if defending team scores within 5 seconds, posession team does 10 pushups/situps etc.

- can we play 2 touch?

Coaching points:

- Are we creating space to make the overload count.

- Is the ball movement quick and precise?

- Are we pressing and closing down the passing angles

- Are we communicating? Counting passes etc
