Organization

  • 2 target player at the end  and 2 goal at the opposite side

  • devided the field on 2 zone

  • 4 attackerss play against 2 defendersin one zone 4 defender in the other zone

Instructions

  • Attackerss look to break out of the area into  to score in either of the 2 small goals. 4 defenderss attempt to defend the 2 small goals. If defenderss regain possession they play into the target players.

Coaching Points

  • Working individually and as a unit, the pressing triggers have to be when the opposition play a loose pass or takes a poor first touch. The unit can work together to set traps in order to press.
  • if the player in possession is not under any pressure it is important that the defensive unit drops off and tucks in to compact the space.
  • If the player in possession is being pressed then teammates now need to see that as a trigger to squeeze up and apply pressure on all of the attackers to prevent them from playing out.

Organization

  • Half of the field
  • 7 v 6
  • 3 small goal one size 1 big goal the other size
  • mark the final third

 Instruction

  •  One team plays to a big goal, the other to 3 small goals. If the pressing team win the ball back in the final third and score, that is worth 3 points and if they win the ball back in the middle third and score, that is 1 point. If the attacking team score, that is worth 1 goal. Only 3 players can press in the final third at anyone time

Coaching Points

  • As a defensive team, players should look to deny penetration from dribbling and prevent attackers from playing forward by providing cover and delaying the attack whilst pressing the ball in positions where defenders can outnumber the attackers or prevent forward passes into the next third.
  • By staying compact, defenders should look to force attackers into positions where they can intercept the ball or make the attackers make decisions and ultimately mistakes to regain the ball back ideally in the final third to counter attack quickly.
  • When defending, players should look to press the ball as individuals, units and teams when opportunities open to them to regain the ball, as high up the field as possible. Upon winning the ball, the team should look to attack the goal as quickly as possible.
