SET UP
Create an area 45 x 15m split into thirds
Use 3 teams with either a neutral player or coach to start the
game.
HOW TO PLAY
Attack have to complete 3 passes before they
can attempt to transfer to the team in the other end third.
Defence send 2 players to try and win the ball back
while the other 2 can intercept any attempted transfers but must be
in the same half at all times.
Whichever team loses possession then become the defending
team.
PROGRESSION
Create a competition by the first team to transfer the ball 5 times is
the winner.
PLAYER TASKS
- Middle players either press or drop off depending if there's pressure on the ball or not?
- Chasing players keep pressure on the ball to prevent a transfer or drop off to make the transfer difficult.

Set Up
Use just over half of a 9v9 field with a retreating line (shaded area)
Opposition - #1,2,4,5,6,8,9 + 2 manaquins as #7 & 11
Northland FC - #3,4,6,8,7,11,9
Starting point with Blue who have 8 seconds to score.
How to play
Opposition (Red) - Combine to score by passing to manaquin or scoring in the goal (must be over the red line before shooting).
Northland FC - Win the ball high up the field using a team press and try to score (there must always be at least one defender behind red line)
Normal football rules apply except no corners.

- Pressure CB by closing down on his touch and forcing play in one direction
- Prevent switch of play
#7 & 11
- Pressure their FB as quickly as possible forcing play inside towards team-mates
- Other Winger to tuck in when ball on opposite side
- Track full back if he goes forward
#6 & 8
- Pressure the player on the ball in midfield
- Prevent their MF getting on the ball facing forward (force play back to where it came from, NO SWITCH)
- Can you intercept to keep possession
- Screen/Prevent easy ball through to their striker
#3 & 4
- Pressure their striker when he has the ball
- The other covers
- Prevent ball being played to their wingers (manaquins)

How to Play
Coach plays into one of the three attackers.
Attackers - Combine with other two attackers to pass/dribble through one of the 3 small goals but you must stay in your own channel.
Defenders - Win the ball and play to team mate or waiting Red
player.
Coaching points:
1) Nearest defender pressure on ball carrier as quickly as possible.
2) Other defenders cover -
- be in a position to help pressuring defender if they get beaten
- be in a position where you can see ball and player you're marking
Once a goal is scored or defenders win the ball and play to waiting players, the game starts again with the new defenders and attackers. (Reds and Blue swap ends after your turn)
Points
Attackers - 1 point for dribbling/passing through the goal
Defenders - 1 point for winning the ball and making a pass to waiting players
Progression
Take away middle two cones and have players free to roam anywhere in the area .
