Task 1 : Outline the key components of fitness that need developing pre adolescents (puberty) between the ages of 5-14 year ?
Fundamental motor skills ( running, jumping, throwing, catching ), Flexibility, Speed, Agility, coordination, muscular strength and Endurance and Cardiovascular endurance focusing on Aerobic considerations.
Task 2 : Outline the key components of fitness that needs developing post adolescents (puberty) the ages 14 + ?
Muscular strength, Cardiopulmonary endurance and agility, Speed and Power, combining Anaerobic and Aerobic considerations.
Task 3 : Using one of the above components of fitness, please design a session that focuses on developing this component specifically
Agility and Speed
Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)
Set up 4 boxes 10x10. 4 teams of 3 in each box with different color bibs.
Players in each box pass and move around until they hear coach shout a color. All players of that color must sprint and find a box each and try to win the ball as fast as they can and then dribble it out and stop the ball dead. If one of them wins the ball then they must run into another box to help their teammates. Play stops when all 3 balls are out of play. The in-possession team looks to keep the ball as long as they can, whichever team is the last to lose the ball will earn 1 point. To restart players sprint back to their box and start to pass around inside their box for 30 seconds before the coach shouts a new color. This 30 second pause acts as the end of each block. Repeat 6 times
Progression
Decrease the size of the playing area
1 touch passing
If defending team able to win all 3 balls in 10 seconds they will get 5 points
Defending team can decide which team they want to press first and they can do it together
Physical consideration focus on speed and agility
High intensity of pressing
Quick changing speed and direction
Explosive sprints
Game should restart after 30 seconds rest as the focus is on physical.

Spread out to create space
Target : The area is designed to demand intense sprints over a short time and space targeting players to cover distance from one box to the other as quick as possible! It is a quick burst of high intensity activity. It also require a quick restart after the game ended. Players must sprint back to their box for a quick restart by passing around their box for 30 seconds and then coach will shout new color.
