1. Divide the players into pairs of approx equal ability - if there are more than 4 players then add another line and group them in 3's. If you have an odd number you can either do something like 2 groups of 2 and one group of 3, one group of 2 and 2 groups of 3, one group of 2 one group of 3 etc.,
2. Each player starts behind their red cone
3. players are to move through cones with balls, turning and playing to the next person in the line, who then does the same.
4. Vary the skills e.g., only using the insides of both feet, dribbling only left foot, only right, full circle around yellow cone with inside of right then full circle around red cone with inside of left, then the same thing but using the outside of both feet - this is where you will include the skill of the day, protecting the ball while doing a full circle
5. Once you've gone through a few variations change it to races with a finish. So for example, players are to go through the cones turn and finish into the goal that is to their left side (goals are green cones). The next race would then be dribbling through and scoring to the goal that is on their right. Make this fun and keep scores. Winners of each pair or trio dont have to help pack up at the end.
For minis regress this so they start by doing it without the ball and then do the movements with ball but all very simple and age appropriate - i.e., dribble straight up and around the red cone then shoot into the green gates

Number soccer
1. Number soccer but for protecting the ball
2. Have one red line and one blue line. Players score by stopping the ball on the line
3. Call the numbers but wait 4 or 5 seconds to yell either 'RED!' or 'BLUE!', players must simply protect the ball for a few seconds until you yell which line they are to try to stop the ball on. Once you call the colour then both players are to try to stop the ball on that line, so even if the other player wins the ball then they are also to try to stop the ball on that line
4. After a few goes each introduce the goals and play number soccer as normal with one team shooting into one goal and the other into the other
5. Add more and more numbers until they are all in, once all in play normal game

Simon says (5 mins)
From this session we want to introduce the understanding to the players that if they can place one foot or the other between the opposition and the ball, the opposition cannot win the ball without at least fouling.
1. Every player with a ball dribbling around within one half of futsal pitch
2. varying skills
3. Once you have done 6 or 7 different skills, introduce the main skill of the day which is turning with the inside of the foot while protecting with the other foot (also encourage having the arm up and onto opponents chest to further protect)
4. Have them do a rotation on the whistle, whistling every 10-20 seconds. Check all individuals have grasped the concept and are able to execute before progressing.
5. Once all can do it, play last player standing, where players can kick other players balls out. If a players ball goes out then they become a 'walker', who's job is to go around to help kick players balls out - these players can only walk though.
