Player Challenge/ Tasks


  • Players in central areas receive the ball facing forward. Limit sideways & backwards passes.
  • When playing out from the back. pass or dribble to create 2v1 moments

Finish session with some running. 5-10 minutes.

Passing Practise (15 mins)

SET UP:

12-16 players. 

  • 2 players at each end
  • 2v2/ 3v3/ 4v4 in the middle area
  • Each team has 1 ball

Uncontested possession for both teams. End players must pass once between them before passing back into the center.

After a few minutes and everyone is comfortable. Stop and remove 1 ball. It now becomes contested possession with the same rules of play ( 1 pass between end players before playing back into the central area, same player rotation)

Training Game (25 mins)

SET UP:

7v7/ 8v8/ 9v9

Purple attack the 2 smaller goals

Yellow attack the big goal

  • Adjust pitch size accordingly to number of players
  • Purple team always starts/ restarts from a goal kick
  • Throw ins from the sides
  • No corners
  • Defensive shaded area is a safe zone for purple team when in BP only. Open play all other times.
