Coaching Points:
Immediate Recovery – Sprint back quickly, close the space, and get between the attacker and goal.
Body Shape – Side-on stance, knees bent, low center of gravity to react quickly, avoid committing too early.
Delay First – Slow the attacker down, don’t dive in — force them away from goal or onto weaker foot.
Deny Penetration – Protect the space between ball and goal, stay compact, show them outside.
Block Shots/Crosses – Get in line with the ball, use body to block and reduce angles.
Last-Ditch Mindset – If beaten, recover immediately, track runner, and never give up on the play.

Set Up:
Instructions:
The shaded area is the safe zone/transition area. The yellow team will attack the red team and if they score they will run back into the safe/transition zone and attempt to attack the blue team. If the attacking yellow team kicks the ball out of bounce, the red team becomes the attacking team starting in the safe/transition zone. If the defending team wins the ball, they must dribble the ball into the safe/transition zone and switch with the team who lost the ball becoming the defending team.
Progression:
- Make it a 3v3 with one of the attacking player always in the shaded zone. This player can be switched on the fly as the game happens.
