Key Principle: Press the ball immediately.
Football Problem (using the 5W’s):
What: Opposition #10, #9, #11 & #7 have to much time, and as a result they are combining with there midfield #6 & #8.
Who: #2, #3, #5, #11,#7 & #8
Where: front 3rd
When: When there #3, #4 get the ball.
Why: #9, #10, #11,#7 lack the urgency to press the ball carrier.
Football Problem: Failed to apply effective pressure in the final 3rd to stop the opposition #3, #4, #5 and #2 from play out and combining with there #6 & #8 in central areas.
Session Objective: I aim to improve out teams ability to close down our opponents in there back 3rd limiting there opportunity to build up and combine with there #6 and #8 in central areas.
Team Tasks: (Team in BPO)
1.Nearest player to the ball try to stop them playing forward and combining with there #6 & #8.
Players Tasks:
Closest player:
-Force the play backwards or side-wards.
-Force the play away towards or support.
-1st defender don't get beaten
Marked Player:
-If there is pressure on the ball, mark in front of or next to.
-If there is no pressure, position yourself to see both your player and ball
Cover players:
-Drop the cover
-Position yourself on the half turn ready to drop.
-If the play on the ball head goes down/leg swing is back, this = drop ASAP
Players away from the play:
-Look to drop into BPO shape
-Recover goal side.
Player Cue's:
- As the ball is travelling can you get touch tight or make the tackle .
Coaches cues:
-Is the ball at risk? High or Low? Who does this effect?
-Is the ball about to change hands? Can I effect the ball? Can I get someone else to effect the ball?
-If we can affect the ball,HOW?
Formation:1-4-3-3
PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE

Organisation:
-4v2 central area 15m x 15m
-6v2 around the outside area.(40m x 40m)
-Balls in centre circle.
Explanation: (In BP)
-Ball played into RED central zone from Joker in the centre circle.
-RED in central zone 4v2.
-Only 2 BLUE players can be in the central zone at any one time.
-RED make 10 passes = 1 point.
-If BLUE team win the ball they keep possession for 1 min or 20 passes = 2 points
-Jokers can become activity for the BLUE team to increase overload.
-Rotate 4 RED players once a team reaches 5 points.
(IN BPO)
-Team with out the ball has to win it back as soon as possible.
Progression: (9v5)
- Move to 5v2 in central area.

Organisation:
-4 grids 12m x 12xm.
-2 central grids and 2 wider grids located on the edge of the 18 yards box.
-1 x player with bib (RED)
-1 x grid 2v1
Explanation:
-3v1 in each grid.
-RED player to win the back as soon as possible.
-Once the defender wins the ball they transition to BP role in that grid.
-Player who lost the ball must find a vancant grid to win the ball back asap.
-Vacant grid continues to pass the ball. Opportunity to rest while maintaining possession.
Progressions:
-Increase/decrease grid size.
-Move the grid with larger distance inbetween.
-Limit touches for team in (BP)

-Set up as shown 7v7 or 8v8.
-RED v BLUE formation 1-4-3-3 focusing on middle 3 & front 3.
-Ball can be served in by the Coach/Assistant. (Vary the start to keep the defence honest)

-Communication by coaching players in front of you (Delay, push right, push left, press high). Are the players pressing on the correct player and stopping them playing out from the back.
-As the ball is travelling can you get in touching distance of the attacker.

When could it be used?
Why is it valuable to use?
Ask myself:
-Was there visible improvement in the Game training from the positioning practice?
-Did they show an understanding and bring it to the park?
-Did the players enjoy my session? Rating from 1-5 (1 being ordinary & 5 totally enjoyed it and used it in every game practice)
-Was my session effective or not?
-Could I have controlled the session better or differently?
-Was there Perception, Decision Making and Execution present?

Passing Practice (10 mins)
Organisation:
- 2 grids
- minimum 7/8 players in each grid.
-15m x 20m diamond as per diagram.
-12 x cones
Explanation:
-Play starts from a station with 2 players.
-Player opposite the man receiving the ball, applies pressure as quick as possible. (50% to start with building intensity once the pattern is flowing)
-RED #3 plays one direction and move in the opposite.
-When the player receives the ball they follow the pattern by playing the ball to the right & moving to the left.
- Player has made the run in the opposite station, they prepare for the next action (BPO) by pressing the opposite station as the ball is travelling.
-Mirror image on the other side.
Progression 1:
-Pass and move alternate direction.
Progression 2:
-Passing direction is players choice.
Player actions: (BPO)
- Every players has 2 tasks 1) pass/move & 2) Close down
- Look at dynamic stretches between stations before 1 progression.
-Movement and urgency when closing down..
- Player closing the opponent down look to facing him the direction you want them to go by changing the angle of the run.
Coaches cue's:
-Anticipate the pass. (Quicker decisions)
-Don't dive in unless you are sure you can intercept and regain possession.
-Lower your centre of balance

Explanation:
- 4 players in the middle facing an outside station.
- Ball starts with BLUE playing out to the #4 position and applies pressure.
- When the player receives the ball, Blue applies pressure ASAP, once the ball is released he/she moves back into the centre.
-Change centre players every 2-3 mins
Player actions:
- Every player has 2 tasks 1) pass/move & 2) Close down
