Aim:
- Attacking in the final third with transition to defend
Organisation:
- Area double the size of the 18 yard box (marked wit black cones)
- 3 gates on end of playing area for attackers
- attackers split into even groups behind these gates
- 2 mini goals just outside the marked area (as shown)
- Goalkeeper starts in goal
- 2 CB's start in the penalty area
- Remaining defenders line up at cone on edge of 18 yard box (as shown)
Method:
- Attackers start the play (3v2)
- Attackers try to build up and score in the goal.
- Defenders try to prevent the attackers scoring
- If the defenders win the ball back
- Full back from each side come into play (4v3)
- Full width of pitch becomes playing area
- Defenders score in the mini goals or by passing the ball to the attacker in the middle gate (CF)
- Ball starts again from attackers when goal is scored or ball goes out of play
- Full backs become CB's
- Attacking options
- Attackers nor running in straight lines (rotations)
- When to pass, when to shoot
- Back post options
- Transition to defend
- Closest player presses - keep them in the final third
- Cover & balance
- Transition to attack (if the defender passes to CF)
- Next 3 players step in quickly to restart play (3v2)
