Passing combination 15mins (15 mins)

Practice;


- One ball starts at each end

- Pass and follow in the sequence above 

- Double movement in and off the outer cones to recieve on the BACK FOOT

- INSIDE FOOT turn on the middle mannequin 


Players must aim to find their team mates BACK FOOT on the outer cones with their pass to enable them to take a positive first touch to play FORWARDS


Players must aim to find their team mates FRONT FOOT (safe side) on the middle manequine to enable the player to perfrom a safe side turn off the mannequin and play FORWARDS


Aim for no more than 2 touches on the outer cones and 3 touch maximun on the mannequin (Hide it, Guide it, Slide it)


Player rotations are to follow their pass to the next station, Stand inside the cones if they are waiting for their turn


Blocks & Coaching points;

1 Ball moving continuously for 2 minutes so players can get used to rotations.

- Ball speed, Double movement, 

2 Balls moving continuously for 3 minutes 

- Importance of body shape to recieve on back foot, importance of passing detail to find team mates back foot, Hide it guide it, slide it in the middle 

2 Balls moving for 3 minutes 

- Importance of taking a positive first touch to enable player to pass on second touch 

2 Balls moving for 3 minutes - END

Practice;


Same passing pattern as the first practice but now only working one direction.

We will now be in an opposed practice with the RED team now becoming the defenders.


- Defender must stand 5 steps away from attackin BLUE player 

- Combination gets played and the final BLUE player is then 1v1 with a RED defender 

-Blue player can choose if they want to recieve on the back foot to instantly be in a 1v1 situation or If the RED defender is closing the distace quickly the Blue attacker may want to use a FRONT FOOT safe side turn to get a shot off.


- Attacker retrieves the ball and joins the back of his own que 

- Next defender become active

Blue team attacks for 4 minutes

- Reinforce the importance of body shape when recieving, Pass detail to give the player recieving the best chance of recieving, Scanning to make your decision if you are going to recieve back foot to go 1v1 or front foot safe side turn
