Edgemont Badgers - Week 5 - Crossing the ball with low or high inside curl
Technical:
- Using instep but wrapping your foot around the outside of the ball (wrap your big toe around the ball)
- Follow through: Lean back for air, chest and head over the ball and follow for low
- One and two touch crosses (Why would you wait? Play early to keep defenders unbalanced)
- Open body shape to be able to cross first time
Tactical:
- When do I play the cross in order to create the most amount of danger? (Play early or first time)
- Use bend on the ball to play in behind defenders and into the run of a player attacking the goal (when/why/how?)
- When I set a wide player about to cross, what should I do if I am in the center? (Get to goal, ideally while a pass is traveling to the wide player
Pyshcosocial:
- Use of communication (verbal and non verbal)
- Mentailty of getting the ball into the box more often.
Physical:
- Movement off the ball while ball is traveling wide
- Quick changes of direction to lose defenders in the box
