Topic: Transitioning from defending to attacking

 Warm up (10 minutes)

Dynamic Stretching (3-4 minutes)

Stretching while moving

5 Steps for intervening to teach

Freeze, recreate, demonstrate, rehearse, go live

Help players be successful, be positive

Organization:

- Split players up into groups of 5

- 12' x 12' areas

- 4 v 1

- If defender wins ball all players must switch to a different cone, including defender

- Who ever doesn't get a cone becomes defender

- If ball goes out of area, switch to a different cone

Encourage players the importance of dynamic stretching before activity. 

Importance of stretching to prevent injury.

Initial game 15 mins

Topic: Transitioning from defending to attacking

Whole - Initial Game (15 minutes) 

Organization:

- 25m x 30m

- 14 players involved 

- Split field up into 2 grids

- 4 v 2 

- If defender wins ball, they pass to their teammates

- If ball goes out of grid, coach serves back in

- Central players join the attack to create overload 

- No restrictions on play

Key Factors & Progressions:

- Support = angle and distance

- Mobility - timing of movement

- Scan before they receive

- Decision - making

- Weight of pass/cross

- Communication

- Speed of play 

- Breaking lines

- Runs off the ball

Activity 15 mins

Topic: Transitioning from defending to attacking (20 minutes)

Activity - Part 

Organization:

- 30 yards x 25 yards

- Split the field up into 2 grids

- 2 v 1

- Defense plays to central attacker and closes down

- Attacker can use either player in the grid for 2 v 1 or play 1 v 1

- First attacker switches with support player, support player with defender & defender with attacker

- Players switch sides of the grid

- Defender wins ball they play wide

- Receive on back foot

Final Game 20 mins

Topic: Transitioning from defending to attacking 

Whole - Final Game + cool down

(15-20 minutes)

Organization:

Split teams into 6

3V3 in each side of the grid

2 neutral players stay central

2 GK

Teams attempt to keep the ball & pass to a neutral 

Neutral plays on into the other half of the grid & joins play to support with numerical advantage 

Team attempts to score by taking advantage of overload.

If possession changes, the same procedure is followed.
