Organisation:
-3/4 pitch
- 2 x large goals
- 2 x sets coloured bids
- Formation 1-4-2-2 v 3-2-2
Explanation:
-Game starts with GK.
-RED team keeps possession.
-GK to play #5 or #2 high and wide.
- Combinations with our #6 or #8.
- 2 RED players (#9 & #7) are restricted to halfway. 3 BLUE defenders as well.
- 3v2 beyond halfway.
Coach’s Cues:
-Ensure correct shape is set when GK/#3 has the ball
-Eliminate or reduce long 50/50 balls with the aim to retain possession and play out from the back.
-Ensure players are receiving the ball in forward facing positions
-Maintain balance of shape on the pitch, if the right side receives the ball wide, then the left side should tuck in and vice versa.

Organization:
-16 Players
- 2 x smaller goals & 1 large goal.
-RED formation 1-4-3-1
-BLUE Team 3, 5, 2, 8, 7, 11, 9 in a 3-1-3 formation
-Pitch length will be 60m, width will be full width
-2 Neutal players as bouncers. (Rotate every 3-4mins)
- Play always starts from the BLUE end, either GK can knock the ball to start the play. RED team has to move it position quickly ready to receive the ball from GK.
-Rotate teams to allow BLUE the opportunity to play our from the back. 5 mins
Explanation/Progression:
-No corners
-If ball is played out, play starts with opposition GK
-The red team will be without a #3 which should allow space in the attacking third corners
-RED can score from the shot zone over half way = 1 point
-BLUE get the ball they have 10 seconds to score a point = 5 points
Discuss the importance of:
-Creating space (CREATIVE)
-Creating options by running angles (PRO ACTIVE)
-Communication
-Receive the pass in a forward facing position (QUALITY)
-Balance and shape (DOMINATE)

Wrap up:
Reinforce what the days session “BP, Effective possession 1.Structured build up”.
Ask the players:
Did they enjoy the session?
What did they learn?
Where on the park could it be used?
When could it be used?
Why is it valuable to use?
Ask myself:
-Was there visible improvement in the Game training from the positioning practice?
-Did they show an understanding and bring it to the park?
-Did the players enjoy my session? Rating from 1-5 (1 being ordinary & 5 totally enjoyed it and used it in every game practice)
-Was my session effective or not?
-Could I have controlled the session better or differently?
-Was there Perception, Decision Making and Execution present?
BP Structured Build up (5 mins)
Main Moment: BP
Key Principle: Effective Possession 1. Structured Build up
Football Problem (using the 5W’s):
What: Wider backs are unable to play out ball from the back to our #6 & #8 when either of the back 3 has possession.
Who: #2, #3, #5 & support play from #6,#8,
When: #2 or #5 has possession
Where: In my teams defensive 3rd
Why: Positioning when #2 or #5 has ball. #6 & #8 not combining with #3/#4, #7, #11
Session Objective: I aim to improve... My Teams ability to play out from the back in when our wide fullbacks have the ball. Our aim is to keep possession and build up play through better positioning of our #2,#3 &,#5 who will combine with our #6 & #8.
Team Task: To maximise the total width of the pitch in structured build up from the back, make field as big as possible when GK has ball, creating space for our backs to combine with our #6 & #8.
Player Tasks: (General / Position-specific):
* Wide players #2, #5, #7, #11 to push on high and wide
* #3 to move across the box to move the attackers.
* GK to play spare player (player not marked & not under immediate pressure)
* #6 & #8 to create they work space, check off away from defensive.
* #2, #3, #5 to recognise that if they are getting pressed to one side, a quick switch to opposite side will create overloads or 1v1’s switched side.
* GK to offer support option if there is a defensive block, if GK receives ball, look to switch play asap.
* #9 to create space for the wide players by running off the ball, checking in and checking out, be in position to create 1v1s or 2v1s.
* Facing forward where possible.
