Technical Warm Up (10 mins)

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

The red team will pass the ball out to the blue players. The blue players will dribble across the field. As the blue players dribble, the red player will come out and defend them. They are not looking to take the ball yet. The players should be in proper defensive posture.

Get out quickly, slow down, turn side on, on toes, bend knees, arms up for balance, checking shoulder, eyes on ball, keep the ball in front of you.

Red and Blue team switch roles after 2 minutes.

Progress to 2v1.

The red player will pass the ball out to one of the blue players. The blue players will dribble across the field. They can also pass the ball to each other. As the ball is being passed, the red player must follow the ball and defend the player with the ball.

They must remember to:

Get out quickly, slow down, turn side on, on toes, bend knees, arms up for balance, checking shoulder, eyes on ball, keep the ball in front of you.

When the ball goes to the other player they must look to place themselves between the ball and the goal.

The red and blue team switch roles after 3 minutes.

Challenges, Conditions or Targets:

Can the defenders get out quickly? Don't give the offense any free space.

Can the defenders keep themselves between the ball and the goal? Allow space outside, not in the middle.
