Session Setup -
In a large area setup 5 different circle of cones which will act as planets, they need to be big enough to fit everybody inside & also spaced out so players have to dribble to reach them
Players have a ball each
Session walkthrough -
Check all astronauts have all the correct equipment - players to carry both cones around with them
We now need to lift off into space - have all players line up on on side or two sides of the area
Count down from 10 - when we reach 'blast off' players kick the ball into the area & chase after it
Once players are in 'space' they need to drive their rocket around to start searching
Players stop their ball & perform ball rolls with both feet - at the same time get them looking through the tall cone (Telescope) to see if they can see any planets
Coach points out that he can see the 'Red Planet'
Players to stop ball rolls & dribble to the red planet
Once players are on the red planet they need to take a picture for NASA - Players to perform toe taps to replicate walking around on the planet while taking photos
Players to do the same on all 5 planets
Progressions to add in whilst discovering all 5 different coloured planets
Shooting Star = Change direction quick so you don't get hit
Alien = Players to freeze so they don't get abducted by aliens - Coach to pretend to be alien and walk round slowly to make sure nobody is moving
Progression
After all 5 planets have been discovered the players will have a 'planet relay'
Players have to dribble to all 5 planets & perform at least 6 toe taps in each whilst taking photos
Progression
Shooting Stars - Coach to randomly throw cones into the area which act as shooting stars which the players have to dodge
Coach to be energetic throughout, make players believe they are discovering a new planet & have lots of fun
Coaching Points
Close control
Small touches
Skills whilst using both feet
Changing direction
Scanning for space
Co-ordination
Players to move onto matches now, keep the theme going with space team names & labelling the goals different planets which you need to score into.

Astronaut Training
Session based on having extra room outside on 3G or grass.
Make use of space by setting up progressions of games in separate area's to minimise setup time & waiting within session *if space allows
Assistants to be alert at all times & encourage participation from all players.
Group sizes maybe big so coach needs to be loud, energetic &organised.
Bring players in to ask them what planet do they live on? Then ask how to you get to other planets...go into space. Let them know that they are going to be searching for new planets in todays session
Session Setup -
Cone an area out big enough for all players to dribble around, within the area have a smaller section which has enough small cones, tall cones & bibs for each player to collect.
Players have a ball each
Session walkthrough -
To start off with they need some Astronaut training on earth. They need to learn how to practice driving the rocket
Players to dribble around the area changing direction, going different speeds & keeping control of the ball
Let them know that a few things they need to look out for in space are floating comets & aliens
Astronauts need to collect there equipment ready to launch into space, all players to collect a big, small cone & big cone
Bib = Astronaut suit
Small cone = Camera
Tall cone = Telescope
