This session is intended to improve our positional play when WE have the ball in Phase 2.

 

Covid19 Protocols:  players are wearing mask.  This session includes contact and is not socially distanced.  However, players are not in close contact for extended periods of time.  We are training as one pod.

4v2 Rondo (10 mins)

Objective: improve our ability to keep possession but also find second line and third line passes.

 

Set-up: 10x10 grid with 6 players.

 

Coaching Points:

1. Movement without the ball;

2. Finding 1st line, 2nd line and 3rd line passes;

3. Emphasize up/back/thru pattern.

Dynamic Stretches

1. Legs apart, bounce L, C, R (5x)

2. Calves 1, 2, 3 switch (2x each leg)

3. Knee to chest into Figure 4 with footwork in between (2x each)

4. Quad strech with footwork in between (2x each)

5. Speed skater with footwork in between (2x each)

6. Spiderman/Rollback (4x each)

7. Reverse RDL + Reverse lunge + Overhead reach (4x each)

8. Open/Close the Gate (4x each)

9. Lateral lunge (2x each)

10. Squat Jumps (4x each)

PP 8v8 Keep Ball (10 mins)

Objective:  to improve our ability to keep possession in a formation that will build into 1-4-3-3.

Set-Up:  8v8 from 18 to 18 the width of the 18.

Instructions:  players play possession.

Variations:  1-2 touch only.  

Coaching Point:  (1) quality of passes, (2) moving into supporting positions, (3) players around the ball, (4) players for long support, (5) look inside.

TG 8v8 Full Out! (20 mins)

Objective:  improve our speed of play.

Set-Up:  8v8 from 18 to 18 the width of the 18.  servers surround the field and have numerous balls.  

Instructions:  players play 8v8 and try to score goals.  When the ball goes out a new ball comes in immediately from the nearest server.  

Coaching Point:  (1) can we play fast?  (2) can we go forward? (3) look to counter attack, (4) keep it if counter isn't on.

Cool Down Stretch (5 mins)

Objective:  to allow for the return of pre-exercise HR, improve relaxation and flexibility.

 

Intensity:  VERY LOW

 

Instructions:  follow coach-led static stretches, yoga stretches and breathing exercises.
