Phase 2:
- We begin with the same steps as phase 1. The only emphasis on this phase, is the foot work and learning to pivot as the player moves from left to right whilst maintaining the ball body to goal line.
- Start bringing in the idea of PALM 2 (Pressure, Aggression, Low, Mobility and 2 hands) this will help them with the idea of how they should be looking to tackle.
- Combine the idea above with the condition that should be making a tackle nearer the end. The purpose of this is to get them used to matching the speed of the opponent and waiting for the right opportunity.
- If you have a good group bring in the idea of the jab tackle and the distance you should be from the attacker. This distance would roughly be between 1.5-2.5 metres depending on how quick they are. Go for a jab with one hand and they retreat a step and back to 2 hands.

Phase 3:
- Play a turnover game putting into practice the skills over the past two phases.
Rules:
- If a player gets tackled or the ball leaves the zone, another teammate joins in and they have to step or tackle back.
- If an attacker scores they step out and the defender takes the ball and goes the other way.
- To score the team needs to dribble the ball into the green cone zone.
- Still put emphasis on the footwork and tackling that has been learned, don't let that go away because its a game environment.

Phase 1
Essence:
- To work on the ball to goal line.
Structure:
- Set up 4 cones in a box form 2 yards from the baseline and around halfway from the halfway line. If you want to further emphasise the defensive aspect you can go up to the halfway line.
- Set up yellow strips, orange ropes as a marker of the outside zone.
- Yellow stripes at 6, 12 and 18 yard intervals
- A without his stick, picks up the ball and stands in the box. B without his stick, but a foam noodle. A throws the ball to B and they play. B needs to use the ball to goal line to stop the attacker by pushing him out of the zone.
- Play for around 5-10 minutes, making sure they all get the idea of ball to goal line
Technical Pointers:
- B must use the ball to goal line to stop A from reaching the box at the far end.
- Make sure that they only push the attacker with the noodle to mimic pressure asserted in a game.
