Organisation : Show & Go Movement
This is a pattern of play developing the “show and go” movement in behind the oppositions defence. We begin with a 1-2 combination between the two deepest players, before the central player drives forward with the ball. While this takes place, striker will time their ‘show and go’ movement off the mannequin to receive the through ball behind the opposition defence. The 10 will time their movement in behind their mannequin to get on the end of the pass/delivery to finish.
Coaching Points:
1. Realistic and high intensity when performing the “Show and Go” movement in behind
2. Correct weight and passing accuracy when playing the through pass
3. Timing of the run in behind to finish
4. Ensure players are aware of ball position to correctly time their movements
5. Avoid passing into passive defenders
6. Use strength to evade defenders
Progression:
- Add defenders to the practice to apply passive pressure to the attacker
- Add mini-goals and allow defenders to actively win back possession
Player Questions:
1. What advantage does the show and go movement give to the attacker?2. Why is practicing this pattern important in terms of player relationships?
3. How can you improve your weight and accuracy of passing when under pressure?
