Gk Rondo (5 mins)

Set Up: Rondo but the goalkeeper can use his/her hands to win the ball

Aim: Introduce the topic of diving at feet

Coaching Points: Bravery, lead with hands, head behind hands

Technique- Diving at feet (15 mins)

Set Up: Triangle set of cones with a ball on cone opposite working gk. Show the players the technique that you're looking for with diving at feet technique. each keeper goes 6 times and replicates the technique, alternating sides. Strikers must take a step and pull their leg back which is the trigger to dive at feet.

Progression: Strikers take a run up and try to strike the ball, working goalkeeper must try to get to the ball before the strike.

Aim: focus on basic technique, no pressure from the attacking players to start. Triggers are introduced for the goalkeepers to gain visual cues to perform the action.

Coaching Points: Diving at feet is used when the goalkeeper has the advantage (60/40), Smother is when its 50/50, Block is when the striker is in favour (40/60)... Lead with hands and torso, be brave, leg up to protect and balance, step before dive

Players Dribbling (20 mins)

Set Up: Players set up around the edge of the box, one gk working, three serving. Line set out between the central player and the working gk. The wide players alternate shooting at the working goalkeeper. When the coach says go, the player who is shooting next passes the ball to the central player. The central player must pass the central line in order to score.

Aim: Give the goalkeeper opportunities to win the ball at feet

Coaching Points: Diving at feet technique, stay on the front foot ready to step forward

Through balls (20 mins)

Set Up: Coach plays a through ball aiming to create a slight advantage to the working goalkeeper. Striker can only score past the line.

Aim: Create a more game realistic situation with through balls. Compete to concede least goals.

Coaching Points: Front foot, be brave, drive off of the foot, technique of diving at feet focus.
