Warm Up 1

Method:

Long pases with variation of types and feet.

The control has to be done inside the square (the pass should be to the square), Focus on receiving the ball and keeping it close.

When the whistle sounds, then the one without ball has to press the one in possession for 30''.

Coaching Points:

- Accurate pass with various parts of the feet, different feet, different heights.

- Reception has to be done with the internal part of the feet and can´t get outside the square.

- When pressing, sprint to get close to the player. The player with the ball has to keep the ball safe and use their body to keep the opponent away.

Warm up 2

Method:

Each couple doing passes now is going to be a team.

Some couples will have the ball and will have to do passes inside the square, while the couples without ball have to recover it.

To recover the ball, a couple has to enter another´s couple square and try to recover the ball before they accomplish 3 passes.

If the ball is recovered, the couple that lost the ball goes to recover to some other square.

If could not recover the ball, have to find another free square and sprint there.

Coaching Points:

- Sprint to get into a box  (to reduce the decision making time of the opponent)

- Pressing in high intensity, reducing spaces for the ones in possession

Endurance Rondo

Method:

Players are divided in 3 teams:

- 1 team is in possession of the ball inside one box, another team is waiting for the ball in the box opposite direction. The third team is in the space between, and will enter each space and aim to recover the ball before the team in possession completes 3 passes.

- After 3 passes, the team should do a long pass to the team that is waiting for the ball.

- If the team in the middle recovers the ball, immediately turns to press the other team as the coach feeds a ball in.

- Exercises runs for 1'30'' for each team

Coaching Points:

- Sprint to avoid the team in possession to accomplish the passing goal (reduce time, space, and options)

- This exercise has an endurance component, to promote that, the only recovered balls that count are the ones recovered when all the team is inside the box and pressing.

- Team in possession: use of space and movement to complete the passes.

Rondo

Method:

Players are divided into 3 teams:

- 1 team is in possession of the ball inside one box, and another team is waiting for the ball in the box opposite direction.

The third team starts in the space between and will enter each space and aim to recover the ball before the team in possession completes 3 passes.

- After 3 passes, the team should do a long pass to the team that is waiting for the ball.

- If the team in the middle recovers the ball, then passes the ball to the team in the other box and the team that lost the ball turns into the defending team.

- The team defending will divide their players by 2 having 2 pressing inside the box and 1 waiting and trying to intercept the pass.

Coaching Points:

- Sprint to avoid the team in possession to accomplish the passing goal (reduce time, space, and options)

- The team in possession has 1 more player and this advantage has to be promoted by movement and use of space.

Rondo 2

Method:  Same exercise, but this variant introduces goals so the team will stay if recovers and scores.

Coaching Points:

As the team recovers the ball in a "danger" area of the opposite team, aim to score as fast as possible to gain the advantage of the disorganized defense.

Final Rondo with Shooting

Method:

Idem, but now with the goalkeeper.

Coaching Points:

  • If we can not score right after recovering the ball, the ball can go back to the player doing balance and make an organized attack.
  • When in possession we can pass the ball back to the goalkeeper to protect it, but it won´t count as a pass before passing to the other side
