Warm up feet

Organization:

6x6 Squares (Changable depending on age and ability) 3 v 1

8 players

1 ball per square

Instructions:

Players keep ball away from defender without leaving area.

Players are free to move anywhere in the area.

If defender wins the ball or forces ball out they change with last attacker to give the ball away.

Coaching Points:

Timing, accuracy and weight of pass

Movement off the ball

Communication

Use both feet

Pass to space as well as players

Progressions:

Limit touches

Use of weaker foot

Keep ball away from defender using handling techniques.

If defending GK catches or deflects the ball they swap with the GK who lost the ball.

Progress serves from throws to volleys

Ball can't touch the floor

Low Diving

Organization:

4x4 goals

2 balls, 2 yards away from GK either side

Instructions:

GK kneels with two balls placed two yards away from them on either side

GK collapses on one ball before returning to kneeling position

Coaching Points:

Set before save

Nearest knee goes to the ball first to attack the ball

Hands follow the direction of the knee and go straight to the ball

Body lowers down to the ball with hands behind the ball using the side contour technique, arms extended away

Body position stays side on and not on stomach

Eyes stay focused on the ball

Service from server

On to feet

Screen 4

- Two GK working per goal, 4 reps each side then switch.  Have min x2 big goals. 

- GK starts at post, shuffles to cone, collapse dive (in front of post)

- Then do opposite, start at cone, to post, collapse dive

Switch sides, then feeders and workers

Coaching points: 

- Moving forward with power step into your dive

- Correct falling pattern: Power step, knee, hip, side, hands

- Three points of contact on ball

- Small shuffles to be set and ready for dive

Progression: 

- End with GK wars.. balls can't be scored above waist height
