Block 3, week 6
Outcomes of session:
To have our goalkeepers in a position to make a top corner save using both forward & backward movements.
The backward movement is to be used from an angled position where the GK would otherwise be lobbed.
* Fast feet - forwards & backwards
* 1/2 step diving starting with a mid dive and working towards the 1/2 step top corner dive
* Positioning - backwards near goal line thus enabling the GK to have a more upward reach
Equipment:
Balls (4 & 5)
Cones / markers
Hurdles

Instructions:
GK to receive 3 direct shots from the coach from position (1) and the 3 shots from position (2)
Questions for whole group upon completion:
* Which position was easier to save from (1)
* What could you do to make the save easier for the GK (move backwards to give the GK more time to react to the ball)
..

Positioning (2)
We are now to going to work from the angle which will make things much harder for the GK as it is opening the goal up for the attacker to either lob or curve the ball around the keeper
The advantage of the GK moving back here is that it allows him to reach higher up toward the cross bar and also it will cover him for any curved ball
Instructions:
C to throw ball up over GK's head forcing him to move backwards to make the save at speed
- any save will do in this situation to just keep the ball out of the goal
