Area:
use centre circle or use cones/discs to create circle.
Equipmment:
Balls (1 per outside player) cones/discs if needed.
Objective:
working as a pair in the middle, one player leads and the other follows. From position 1 the leader (blue) runs and calls for a ball from a feeder on the outside. When he recieves he must control and stop the ball (position 2) He then turns out and moves to another feeder for a ball and repeats (position 3). The role of the follower is to shadow bout not tackle the reciever. Once the reciever has stopped the ball dead the follower passes the ball to a feeder on the outside (position 2) then turns to follow the leader again (position 3). The leader is trying to loose the follower by working as fast as possible, changing direction and setting the pace. work for 1- 1.5mins depending on fitness then swap the pairs. Once all pairs have had a turn the leaders and followers in each pair swap roles and the practice is repeated.
Key Points:
Emphasise changing direction and not going round in a circle as changing direction multiple times makes it more difficult for the follower. This is very tiring if performed correctly. Encourage the pairs to work as hard as possible to improve fitness.
Progression:
Increase the duration of time each pair works for.

Area:
create channels 6m wide x 18m long. each channel has 3 players.
Equipment:
cones, discs, poles to mark channels. balls (1 per channel)
Objective:
Each player is assigned a role (1, 2, 3). i have numbered the role to undrstand easier.
Player 1
The practice starts with player 1. his role is to pass the ball to player 2 and continue his run as a third man runto receive the ball in the shaded area. He then turns around and passes the ball back to player 2 and contuiue his run back to the starting point shaded area,
Player 2
The role of player to is to receive the ball from player 1 and set the ball back to supporting player number 3. They then rotate to receive the ball from player 1 again and set to player 3. Player to should be on the move slightly to simulate pulling off into space to receive.
Player 3
The role of player 3 is to recieve the ball from player 2 and send a through ball to player 1 who has made a third man run. They then need to make a small run to the shaded area and rotate to receive the set pass from player 2. Then again send a through ball to player 1 the return to the shaded box starting position.
Once the sequence is complete, repeat for the duration of the practice (2 mins) then rotate positions/roles so all players have completed each numbered role.
Progression:
Try to acheive 1 touch on the passes. Increase the intensity

Area:
Use 1/4 of astro pitch and divide the pitch into thirds.
Equipment:
cones, bibs, balls, goals.
Objective:
Split the players into 2 teams. Each player is given a number and their job when out of possesion is to mark the same number as themselves on the team in possesion. So blue1 out of possesion will mark red 1 who is in possesion. Blue 2 out of possesion will mark red 2 in possesion and so on. The practice starts with a possesion game in the middle 3rd. After 3 passes the team in possesion can breakout and attack the goal. The practice is reset once the ball goes dead or the defending team win back possion.
Key Points:
The aim is to get players to identify loss of possesion (in this instance the 3 passes) and get goalside of their marker and defend an attack, Anticipate when it looks like the 3 passes are completed to search for your man.
Progression 1:
Make the game multi directional on the break out to make the player really think about where the play is likely to head.
Progression 2:
Have a normal direction match with blues and reds attacking opposite ends.
Progression 3:
Normal match but keep match up players to try and man mark zonal. For example red right midfield marks l blue left midfield.

Area:
Use 3rd of astro pitch. divide pitch with chaneels with cones (approx 5 yards wide each). Divide the middle section into 3rds with cones. Use only the area shaded and not use the channels.
Equipment:
Cones, discs, bibs & balls.
Objective:
Split players into 2 teams. Start with possesion game in middle third as shown. This is a multi directional game and either goal can be attacked by both teams. After 3 passes are completed the next pass can go into a attacking third for a team mate to run onto and try and score. The team defending need to drop back to protect the goal the team in possesion are defending. If a goal is scored or the ball goes dead the practice is restarted from the start in the middle 3rd and starts again.
Key points:
Encourage the players to keep posseion and hide the ball from the opponent and play with their heads up. Identfy 3rd pass and be ready to make the run.
