Have used the 3 practices all can be adapted depending on numbers of players. Area sizes again depends on number of players. Timings vary depending on how the practice works don't move on until the players have got the idea.

SETUP:
Players on outside all have a ball and play as feeders, blues move trying to create time and space before receiving a pass and passing to a different outside player. Yellows work as defenders, defending passively at 1st before progressing to defending properly.
Area size depending on number of players
Smaller area forces players to think and play quicker as they will always be under pressure due to limited space
Bigger area forces players to work harder physically to get about the area but may loose some of the technical emphasis as there is more time and space to play in.
PROGRESSION(S):
Switch defenders, attackers and feeders regularly
COACHING POINTS:
Movement before the pass to create time and space to receive
Open body position when receivng, already going towards next pass
Move the ball quickly using as few touches as possible
Work with the players on how they receive the ball can they be in a position to pin the defender and play a pass using as few touches as possible.
Bright movement before receiving take defender away to come back and receive the pass
Make straight run to receive the ball but come off at an angle don't receive square on
Big emphasis on awareness and communication-outside players need to give information when they play and pass and help out the inside players, telling them they are free to receive

SETUP:
4v4+4 - 4v4 in area with 4 target players on the outside. To score have to pass to an outside player.
Change the outer players after 2 minutes
Can change numbers in the middle if have more players down.
Can use keepers as target players, players must always play to their hands
PROGRESSION(S):
Can limit the touches in the middle
Inside players must have a set number of passes before playing to an outside player
Have to play a one:two with an outside player
Outside Players limited to 1 touch - forces inside players into better movement to give supporting angles for outside players. Inside players must react as the ball is played to get into a position to receive
COACHING POINTS:
Open body position to see as many options as possible
Movement off the ball to create space to receive
Short passes to keep possession and draw the opposition in before playing out with a longer pass
Have the confidence to receive the ball even when marked
Use body to hold off defenders
Always look to be in a position to receive, don't hide behind opponents.

Normally start a training session with the above, looks really simple but gets players involved straight away, particulalrly good with new players to feel part of the group has a good social aspect to it, means they get to learn names quickly and as the playaers have no choice who they go into the middle with they have to work with whoever they go in with. No set area size depends really on the number of players, players will try and cheat and make the area bigger to buy themsleves more time in possession.
Players on the outside keep the ball from the middle players. 2 players in the middle try to win the ball. If an outside player gives the ball away they go into the middle with the man on their right.
Depending on ability level of players limit number of touches on the outside, usually do 1 touch but might need to start with 2/3 touch.
