Session Topic: Attacking - Creating goalscoring opportunities from wide areas (attacking third).
Who: #6, #8, #10, #7, #11, #9
Where: Middle to Attacking Third (primarily attacking third).
Why: (current behavior): In recent games we have struggled to break down the opposition and create scoring opportunities when we have worked the ball into wide areas of the pitch.
Desired behaviors: 7 / 11 creating / providing width, being positive in 1v1 or 2v1 situations and providing quality supply / crosses into the box for our forward and midfield runners. #6 providing support underneath the ball to recycle possession when necessary and change the point of attack. #8 / #10 offer support to the ball and make penetrating runs in behind when the spaces open up. #9 coming short to receive to drag defenders out of position, creating space for through balls in behind.
Objective: Utilize the front 3 to create goal scoring opportunities from wide areas
Principles (Main and Sub)
Create Build-Up Shape
Create appropriate height, width, depth.
Create optimal attacking distances between players.
Break Lines to Advance Attack
Drive with the ball to exploit space.
Engage opponent: create 1v1 or 2v1 situations.
Switch the point of attack to exploit the space on the weak side.
Finish the Attack
Final pass: Through ball or combination play.
Numbers in the box: fill zones in front of the goal.
Take on 1v1 to create or score.
Finish: Use limited touches.

Objectives:
Goal - Deny the attacking team from creating chances in the attacking third.
What: Prevent opponent from playing forward or deny penetration from the dribble.
Where: From middle to the defensive third.
Who:1,2,3,4,5,6,8
When: When the attacking team is in possession, trying to penetrate forwards to create chances and score goals.
Why: To deny chances, regain possession of the ball with purpose to score.
Notes / Script:
Reinforce the main goal for the group WHAT and HOW's.
Round #1 - observe / positive reinforcement.
Break #1 - provide feedback of the round; adjust players behaviors as needed (connection between lines/positioning according to where the ball is / keep the lineup).
Round #2 - direct coaching in the flow (freeze and or / use of natural stoppage if needed to paint a picture).
Break #2 - recognize moments that went well; point out 1-2 things to improve on (individual / group reference / moments in transition) - ask the group for feedback (what went well / what can be improved).
Round #3 - Observe (balanced coaching in the flow if needed; depends how much success the group gets). Use of natural stoppages to highlight positive and / or learning moments).

Red team - tries to deny creating chances and attacks 3 mini goals.
Recognize the moment to allow the game flow (natural restarts)

Notes / Script:
Ask the group of what the goal is and reinforce any additional details if needed.
Remind the challenge group main principles covered in the previous part of the session.

Solutions:
1) Draw the ball one side for a switch.
2) Play into the #9 when he drops short to receive to pin / draw the opponent out - set underneath to 10 and through to 7 / 11.
3) Find 2v1 in w de area - 10 can join for a quick combo (diagonal run from #9 to a straight ball).
4) True 1v1 - must have tempo within the switch and create it.
