- Outside Hook

- Stepover

- Drag Back

- Twist Off

KEY POINTS:

- ON TOES TO ADJUST TO BALL

- MOVE WITH BALL TO REMAIN CLOSE AND IN CONTROL

- USE OF BOTH FEET

- USE OF BODY MOVEMENTS TO ADD DISGUISE AND EXAGGERATION

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Combining multiple moves/turns in specific order.

- Combining multiple moves/turns in random order.

- Use of varying/different moves/turns.

1v1 Keep Away

SET UP:

- Progression on ball mastery. In same area, in pairs one player tries to retain possession and keep the ball away from their partner. The partner tries to tackle and win the ball back.

- Progress to include a neutral (bounce) player. To score, the player with the ball must play a bounce pass (one-two) with the neutral player.

KEY POINTS:

- SHIELDING THE BALL (CAN I CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE DEFENDER AND THE BALL? USE OF BODY - SIDE ON TO INCREASE DISTANCE. FOOT ON BALL - EASIER TO CONTROL/MANIPULATE IF DEFENDER TRIES TO WIN BALL. BENT KNEE/ USE OF ARM - FOR STABILITY AND TO HOLD OFF DEFENDER)

- BALL CIRCULATION (CAN I MOVE THE BALL IN A WAY THAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DEFENDER TO GET THE BALL? IF THE BALL IS STATIC FOR TOO LONG, HOW WILL THIS MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE DEFENDER TO GET THE BALL?)

- USE OF SKILL/TURN TO FACE/ORIENTATE TOWARDS TARGET (HOW CAN WE USE FAKES/DOUBLE MOVEMETS TO FACILITATE THIS/CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN US AND DEFENDER? HOW DOES THE DEFENDERS MOVEMENT IMPACT ON THE SPACE AVAILABLE TO US?)

- PERCEPTUAL AWARENESS (WHERE IS THE NEUTRAL PLAYER? WHERE IS THE DEFENDER? WHERE IS THERE AVAILABLE SPACE FOR ME TO USE AND WHERE IS THERE LITTLE SPACE?)

- LOCATION OF DEFENDER (HOW WILL THIS IMPACT ON HOW I DRIBBLE/TURN TO GET INTO SPACE AND ATTACK?)

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Scoring zones that players have to get into (what does the opposition have to defend?)

1v1 Into 2 Goals

SET UP:

- 1v1 with 2 goals.

- Attacker starts in triangle. Teammate will pass ball into area to start game. 1) Attacker is safe in triangle. Defender cannot win ball back until attacker has left triangle. 2) Defender can enter the traingle to stop Attacker once they have received the ball.

- The attackers aim is to score in either of the two goals. If the defender wins the ball, there aim is to pass the ball back to the teammate who started the game with the pass.

KEY POINTS:

- RECEIVING IN 1V1 (CAN I CONTROL THE BALL IN A WAY TO MOVE FORWARD/TOWARDS GOAL WITH MY 1ST TOUCH. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, CAN I USE MY BODY WHEN RECEIVING TO SHIELD AND PROTECT THE BALL?)

- WHERE IS THE DEFENDER WHEN I RECEIVE THE BALL? (BEHIND ME. BACK IS TO GOAL. HOW WILL THIS AFFECT HOW I ATTACK/DRIBBLE? WHAT ANGLE IS THE DEFENDING APPROACHING AT? WILL THIS GIVE ME SPACE TO TURN AND ATTACK?)

- IS THERE SPACE BETWEEN ME AND THE DEFENDER WHEN IN CONTROL OF THE BALL? (YES - CAN I TURN AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE TO DRIBBLE/ATTACK TOWARDS GOAL AND GET PAST DEFENDER. NO - CAN I SHIELD AND PROTECT THE BALL TO STOP THE DEFENDER TACKLING ME. HOW CAN I PUT MYSELF IN A POSITION TO TURN AND ATTACK AT GOAL?)

- USE OF SKILL/TURN TO FACE/ORIENTATE TOWARDS GOAL (HOW CAN WE USE FAKES/DOUBLE MOVEMETS TO FACILITATE THIS/CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN US AND DEFENDER? HOW DOES THE DEFENDERS MOVEMENT IMPACT ON THE SPACE AVAILABLE TO US?)

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Remove triangle area. Player now needs to think about their movement to receive the ball.

- 2v1. Teammate now joins attack. How will this impact the available space and ability to turn?

HuaHua 1v2

SET UP:

- 1v2. All players start off the pitch, The attacker and 1 defender at one end of the pitch and another defender at the other end.

- The attacker starts with ball and tries to dribble and score in goal. Once he has initiated the game with the dribble, both defenders can try to stop them and win the ball back.

- If the defenders win the ball back, they can score in the opposite goal.

- WHERE IS THE DEFENDER WHEN I AM ATTACKING (FROM BEHIND AND IN FRONT. CAN I MOVE AT SPEED TO EVADE PRESSURE FROM BEHIND?)

- CHANGE IN DIRECTION/SPEED/TOUCHES

- BALL CIRCULATION (HARDER FOR DEFENDERS IF BALL IS MOVING RATHER THAN STATIC)

- CAN WE PLAY/MOVE FORWARD/BE DIRECT TO ATTACK GOAL AND KEEP 1V1 RATHER THAN 1V2?

- PERCEPTUAL AWARENESS (WHERE IS THE PLAYABLE SPACE? WHERE IS THE DEFENDER IN FRONT? WHERE IS THE DEFENDER BEHIND?)

- Attacker receiving ball in area (how does this impact how they receive and play against the defenders?)

- 2v2.

SSG

SET UP:

- Conditioned SSG. normal match conditions but with backwards facing goals.

- Can players understand how they can use their body and dribbling/shielding skills to protect the ball, maintain possession and then try to move towards goal?

- Include gates to help meet session outcomes (in front of goal or at end of pitch).

KEY POINTS:

- WHERE IS THE DEFENDER WHEN I RECEIVE THE BALL? (HOW WILL THIS AFFECT MY DRIBBLING? WILL I NEED TO PROTECT THE BALL OR CAN I TURN AND ACCELERATE TOWARDS A GOAL?)

- CAN I CREATE DISTANCE BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE DEFENDER WITH THE BALL? (HOW CAN I ACHEIVE THIS? SHIELDING AND PROTECTING THE BALL/ FAKES, TURNS AND DOUBLE MOVEMENTS/ ACCELERATING INTO SPACE/ USE OF TEAMMATES?)

- BALL CIRCULATION (IF THE BALL IS MOVING, IS IT EASIER OR HARDER TO DEFEND? CAN WE VARY THE SPEED AND MOVEMENT OF THE BALL? WILL THIS HELP CREATE SPACE TO ATTACK IN?

- USE OF TEAMMATES (HOW CAN MY TEAMMATES OFF THE BALL HELP CREATE SPACE FOR ME TO ATTACK OR PASS TO THEM TO ATTACK?)

- CAN WE CONSIDER HOW TO TRY AND ORIENTATE TOWARDS GOAL? (IF MY BACK IS TO GOAL, HOW AM I ABLE TO TURN TO ATTACK AT GOAL? IF I HAVE TIGHT PRESSURE FROM THE DEFENDER, HOW CAN I PROTECT THE BALL AND AT THE SAME TIME TRY TO MOVE TOWARDS GOAL?)

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Include gates (at end of pitch or in front of goal).

- Playing with underloads.
