Warm-up/Rondo (15 mins)

1st Phase, Dynamic Warm-up and rondo.

Objective: To welcome the players and create routine. Encourage the players to take initiative for the activity.

Organization: As shown, set up the SAQ activity, try to limit lines and use a ball with the activity. The player start by dribbling to the cone and then pass the ball to the next line. Pattern repaets. For the rondo, play 4v0, with a player sitting out. If a player on the inside makes a mistake, sub that player out. In the 5v1, switch the middle player every time there's a mistake.

Key words: Open your hips, take your touch away from pressure and use both feet. Keep your feet moving.

Guided questions: 1.Where do I take my next touch? 2.Why do we get wide? 3. Why do we let the ball go across our body?

Answers: 1.Into space or away from pressure. 2. In order to support the player on the ball and spread the defense. 3. As the ball goes across our body and we use our back-foot, we can take a much better touch into space or away from pressure.

2nd Phase, ball mastery/technical work

Objective: To work on 4v4's that build into 5v4 and 5v5 in order to learn how to play into our holding mid.

Organization: As shown, play 4v4, w/ keepers. The defending team plays a long ball to the keeper and the keeper decides where to play. Within a pass or two, the designated 6, must get the ball. The wide player can play once a pass has been completed to them. Game ends on a goal or when the ball goes out.

Key words: Expand, possess, dribble, connect and switch the ball.

Guided questions: 1.What do we need to do create an opening? 2.What should midfielders do to help the defender with the ball? 3.Why should we possess the ball? 4.Why do we need to change the point of attack?

Answers: 1.Spread out and pass the ball to move the defenders. 2.They should move to create

passing options and openings to move the ball forward. 3.To keep the ball and try to create an opening to go forward with the ball. 4.To move the ball forward in the other side of the field.
