Session Objective
Red team should attempt to play through the midfield diamond by creating space through rotation and link up play.
Principles of attack
Provide Width, Depth and Penetration in attack.
Players should provide support in front, to the side and behind player with ball.
Technical points
Receive pass on half turn
Postive pass forward into attacking third.
Postive movement to create space.
Tactical points
Movement of attacking players should provide space for others players to move into
Session starting point
Red goalkeeper deliver ball to Red 6 as first option. Alternatively deliver ball to Red 3 or 4.
Key movement points:
Movement of attacking players must be triggered by the receiving and turning of RED 6.
Questions to challenge players
What if Blue 9 applies pressure to Red 6. Can Red goalkeeper deliver the ball to either Red 3 or 4.
Managing the opposition
Blue 9 must not pass over the retreat line until Red 6 (DLM) has received and turned
Progressions
Red 7 and 8 tuck in to allow Red CB's to split and provide width in attack.

Session starting point
Red 4 or 5 (CB) feeds ball to Red 6 (DLM) who then attempts to utilise the diamond formation.
Option 1. Red 7 and 8 split, providing space for the Red 10 to rotate into. Red 6 (DLM) attempts to
play the ball into the Red 10 who is playing at the point of the diamond.
Option 2. Play the ball into either Red 9 or 11 who have dropped off and moved into space vacated by Red 7 or 8 . Red 10 should then move into the space vacated by either Red 9 or 11. Red 7 or 8 should then take up the position at point of the diamond.

Questions to challenge players
What can we do if Blue 6 is able to move across and cut out the pass ? what movement might Red 6 have to make in order to link up play ?
What can we do if Blue 7 and 8 do not track their opposite numbers in Red and instead decide drop deep and mark the space?
Can Red 6 drive into space in front of them ?
Managing the opposition
Blue 6 must not pass over the half way line until Red 6 (DLM) has received and turned.
Blue 9 will act as a target for the blue team when they gain possession. They can move between the cones but cannot move off this line
