Red team cannot leave the yellow box
Red team works together to stop blue team's passes. Intercepting only - no tackles (must maintain distance)
Blue team can move freely in shaded space. They cannot enter into the yellow box.
Objective is for blue team to successfully pass the ball through the yellow box. They can also pass the ball around the shaded space, those passes just don't count as a point. Every successful pass through the yellow box = 1 point. If the red team intercepts, they pass the ball back out to blue and the drill continues.
Switch the red team to 2 new players after about 2 mins.
Emphasize:
- communication between 2 defending players to close space
- movement of blue players! They should be moving for each other and should not stay on the same side of the box the whole time.

Player 1 passes to Player 2 who is standing inside on the yellow cone. Player 2 passes back to Player 1 and then makes a hook shaped lead up around the line of red cones and back towards goal. Player 2 passes the ball to Player 1 again on the outside of the cones. Player 2 then shoots on goal.
Emphasis on receiving open!
On the left side, encourage backhand shooting (reverse sweep or backhand hit, depending on ability).
For the younger groups who have not learned backhand shooting skills yet, encourage proper footwork to get feet around and ball back to forehand.
Forehand shooting from right side - encourage upright hits (or sweeps from younger groups). Don't forget the Left-Right-Left footwork!

- objective is to hit the ball over the opponents end line
- players cannot cross the blue centre line
- next hit comes from wherever the player received/stopped the previous hit - so stopping the ball closer to the centre line makes the next shot easier (make sure younger groups are being safe with this and not standing RIGHT in front of a hit... it does happen)
Can split the field in multiple sections to have a few games going at once - can go as small as 2 vs 2 to promote more touches on the ball.
Can also allow one pass to try to get the movement up
Can become very static with younger groups. So, encourage proper hitting technique but put a time limit on how long a player has to hit the ball after receiving it. One touch to receive and then a quick shot back!

Name Game (10 mins)
All players are in the circle, or other designated space.
Half the players have balls, half to not.
All players move around in space and those who do not have balls call for the ball from the players who do.
Can make it a competition by going for 2-3 mins and saying those who have a ball at the end win
- must learn everyone's name in order to be successful!
- no one should ever be stationary
- no passing 2 balls to 1 player - awareness
- make the space big enough so players can maintain distance from each other
