THE SESSION:Pass and shoot pattern. A passes to B, B returns to A 1 touch. B checks shoulders and spins to side away from C to shield ball and receive pass back from A to have a shot on goal. Player C is a passive defender to start. A replaces B, B replaces C, C returns to line. Work from both sides to improve weak foot shooting, and to minimize lines.
PROGRESSIONS:Allow C to actively defend.
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:Good passing fundamentals; accuracy and weight. Checking away from defenders with eyes up, checking shoulders to set up shooting lane. Proper footwork and body shape to shoot. Strike through the ball. Player B must shield the ball well and turn into a good shooting position.

THE SESSION:Same set up as previous drill, now in 2 v 1 situation. Player C is an active defender. A plays to B, B returns to A, 1 touch. Player A now decides, depending on C's movement to play either B or D for 2 v 1. A does not join the attack. Rotate A to B, B to C, C to D, D back to line.
PROGRESSIONS:Add in 2nd defender, and allow A to join the attack after making the first pass to create 3 v 2.
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS: Good foot work and body shape for shooting. Eyes up to locate teammates in 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 sets. Good communication and movement off the ball for attackers. Players are trying to create good shooting angles with their passes. Awareness of shooting windows when they open up.

2 ball drill
Warmup:
Two ball drill
10X10 to start. adjust as needed.
Two balls, 1 defender.
Coaching points: Possession demands you to be always on the move, and always communicating. No communication equals a player with two balls.
- Quick thinking. Must know your options before the ball even reaches your feet
- don't invite the pressure. Waiting until you are pressed is too long. Your greatest advantage is numerical supiority. Allowing a defender to collapse on you isolates you and plays into their hand. Make them always chase the game.
