Three passing patterns, that looks at technical aspects of passing.
1st Progression;
- Focus is on the movement of the receiver away from the cone, creating space in front, and having an open body shape to receive the ball.
- Should seek to receive with their back foot, and play a firm pass into the feet of the next receiver.
- Work for a minute or so, then go the opposite way, working both feet.
2nd Progression;
- Receiver now seeks to receive with a closed body position, indicating the set-back to the original passer.
- Should make a good set-back, and call for the 1-2/Return pass, while indicating where they want the ball played to.
- Initial passer should now seek to play a well-weighted pass into the space ahead of the receiver, so the receiver can play the next pass forwards in their stride.
3rd Progression;
- Receiver again seeks to receive with a closed body position, indicating the set-back to the original passer.
- Once the set back has been made, the passer should call the name of the next receiver, and play a driven longer pass to the next receiver, with the initial receiver seeking to be ready for the set-back.
