Most opponetns play a 4-3-3 or a 4-5-1. We have numerical superiority in the midfield.
Keys to defensive success:
#1 Diamond has to stay compact and together.
#2 Wide forwards have to force play into the midfield by taking away the wide channels.
#3 Backline has to play high tight to the midfield
#4 Press together if ball goes wide

Pressing: Realistically we do not have the depth and fitness level for a high press the entire game.
We move and press as a unit, but a low press. We want the CB's to be cut off from playing wide and force the ball into the midfield.
Once the ball is passed or dribbled into the midfield we must win it.

We are looking to win the ball in our Midfield 3rd. We are forcing the centerback to make one of two decisions,
1. Dribble
2. Play a long ball
3. Pass back
Diamond has to work together! Work hard! and STAY COMPACT!

Intro to formation
4-4-2 (Dutch). Gives us numerical superiorty in 2/3rds of the field.
2 vs 4 in Attacking 3rd, 4 vs 3 in middle third, 4 vs 3 in defensive third.
Successful against most formations.
Weakness: Space between the two wide forwards and outsidebacks.
