Objective is to take last week's session on dribbling and expand on that. Players to become more comfortable on the ball. More creative. Less kicking it out and handing the opposition possession. Practice it in training so they're less likely to panic if pressured in a game. "muscle memory".
TECH/TAC - Use body. Recognise body language of teammates and opposition. Handle stress.
PSYCHOLOGICAL - Confidence & concentration. Problem solving and decision making. How can I keep this ball? When should I pass it?
PHYSICAL - Strength & balance.
SOCIAL - Responsibility to keep the ball. Independence to deal with a situation if you lack support.
Reflections on the session:
Odd numbers made some drills a little difficult, but kept swapping groups of 3s and 4s around to give everyone a chance of being in a 4. Total attendance was 11 with 1 having to leave early. Lack of lesser-experienced players present, not enough to put into their own group so they did struggle slighty.
The players really enjoyed it and had a good laugh, social corner was ticked that's for sure! Tried to keep them on track and learning though, asking questions and demonstrating safe and dangerous areas to be pinned with the ball. They are starting to think more and do answer my questions correctly. Often same people answering though.
Improvements for next time:
Keep on top them better. Fun is good, but effort needs to remain too. The players know they should be scanning, they can answer the question about it, need to see them actually doing it in practice though. Next time, include a coloured cone in the warm up activity so when I hold it up, they must call out what colour it is. Rewards for first to shout the correct colour. Pick on individuals to answer questions instead of putting it to the group and have the same confident people answering.

In squares. 1v1 in the middle. Partner each on the outside (or 1 partner for box teams if not enough). 10x10 yard boxes.
Keep the ball in the middle. Only pass to the outside player when you're in danger.
Progression 1 - Outside player can now go in when passed to and switch with the player who passed it.
Progression 2 - Teammate on the outside has to move to the worst supporting position. Player on the ball needs to be a bit creative to get out and pass them the ball.
Progression 3 - Back to normal on the outside. Now, if you're passed to, you join in to make a 2v1.

2v2 in the middle. Objective is to pass from one end zone player to the other. 20yd width (from previous practice)
End zone player whose team has possession, decides which box they want to stand in. Other player has to move to the other box.
Coaching point - can the centre player off the ball read their partners body shape and move proactively?

Progression - Move to a shield. In possession team, your player has to move to the outside behind a defender.
Coaching point - now we're scanning for where the defender and our teammate is.
Coaching Point - stay on the ball if the pass isn't on.

Warm-Up Fun Activity (5 mins)
Half inside the circle with a ball each. Half start on the outside.
Blues go in to try and steal a ball. Reds need to keep their ball. If you steal a ball, you now have to keep it.
Duration 30 seconds.
Repeat 3 times. Key Coaching Points:
What did you do to make sure you kept a ball? Scanning - for space and for danger.
Why have I asked you to steal a ball and keep it instead of kicking it out? - Cos that gives possession away.
Where else does danger come from? The edge/lines. Move into safer space.
