Session design:
Organisation:
- 4 reds in each box, two defenders for each box.
- ball will start in left hand square; one defender will be active from the start (4v1).
- second defender becomes active and enters the square when red team makes 5 passes.
- when another 5 passes are made, ball can be switched to other square where same process will take place.
- aim for defenders is to simply win possession back.
- aim for attackers is to keep possession effectively, moving the ball well under pressure.
- point will be scored for every 5 successful passes that the attackers make, and for every time the defensive team prevent ball from being switched.
- defenders will be swapped frequently to ensure all players experience play both in and out of possession.
Progressions/Regressions:
1. Progression - both defenders are active from the beginning instead of a 4v1 initially.
2. Progression - players must make an overall 12 passes, as opposed to 10, to switch the ball.
1. Regression - increase size of box to create more space for defensive players to cover, therefore creating more space and time for players in possession to make passes.
Planned Interventions:
- Coaching process to outline the technical mechanics involved in passing.
- Fly by to instruct a player on how to pass quickly to ensure they are not pressured into losing possession.
- Not too many interventions; again trying to maximise ball rolling time.

Tactical Information given to players out of possession to ensure tactical element is met. |

Physical Clear session timeline implemented in session; physical aspect for defenders (pressing). Even greater if progression 2 takesplace due to underloaded defensive side. |
|
Psychological Scoring system, i.e., point for each goal, will provide motivational element. |
|
Social Team captains will keep score. |
Organisation:
- 6v6 possession small sided game format.
- directional play (greens attacking one way, reds the other).
- aim is to make five passes and then finish in one of the mini goals for a point.
Progressions/Regressions:
1. Progression - 7 passes to finish instead of 5, to ensure there is extra emphasis on the technique of passing.
1. Regression - increase the size of the area to buy players more space and time in possession; quite a compact area at the beginning to challenge players.
2. Regression - if passing becomes difficult due to the 6v6 and compact area size, make one player a floater to ensure 7v5 overload is always intact for the team in possession.
Planned Interventions:
- Coaching process to outline the technical mechanics of passing when a break down occurs.

Technical practice. (15 mins)
Session design:
Organisation:
- two groups of six players.
- ball will begin on one corner of the square; two players must be stood at this corner.
- ball will be passed to the next corner (in whichever direction I state at the beginning of the drill), the player will setp off their cone and lay the ball back to thee original player, who has followed their pass.
- the second player will move around the cone and the pass will be returned to complete the one-two.
- this will be repeated around the square.
- aim is to improve the technique of passing.
Progressions/Regressions:
1. Progression - players must use their weaker foot to circulate the ball around the square.
2. Progression - two touches maximum.
1. Regression - players will not play the one-two; pass around the square, following your pass.
Planned Interventions:
- Fly by with certain player(s) to outline the technical mechanics involved with passing.
- Fly by with certain player(s)to outline the technical mechanics involved with controlling the ball.
- Try to limit interventions here; ball rolling time vital.
