Receiving out of the air

Working with a partner, work through receiving out of the air techniques by Player A tossing the ball to player B who receives the ball, controls it to the ground, then passes it back to Player A. Complete 10 repetitions then switch who tosses.
Techniques to work on:
- Inside of foot
- laces from driven toss
- laces or cradle from lofted toss
- thigh
Coaching points:
-Meet the ball out of the air
-Firm surface
-Footwork to get in line with ball
-get ball to ground quickly
-cushion the ball

Using a square split the players into two groups. One group is inside the grid and the other group is spread around the outside of the grid. The players around the outside have a ball in their HANDS, and the inside players do not have a ball. For 60 seconds, the inside group checks to a player on the outside, receives a ball in the air, controls it to the ground, and passes it back to the same person. Then they’ll find a new person on the outside to repeat the sequence. Before checking to a new player they must first run through the central gate. Switch the groups.

In a 4v4 or 5v5 setting, split the teams up evenly and 2 goals with each team attacking and defending one with no goalkeeper. Any out of bounds is a Throw-In, even corners and goal kicks

Facilitate the game and help with positions, positioning, and game format. Facilitate a basic scrimmage with a goalkeeper and five field players. Allow the kids to “PLAY” but give guidance when necessary. Use a “coaching in the game” approach to emphasize the topics from this week’s training.
