Switch of play in the defensive half
Key points:
- body shape when receiving the ball - half-turn/back foot
- movement to create an angle after passing the ball
- weight of pass
- speed of switch
- direct/use of multiple players
If the reds went onto score following the successful switch they would be awarded 2 points.

Switch of play in the defensive half + scoring from the wide common player
In order to encourage creativity the players will be given additional points for the switch of play and then scoring from a cross from a wide common player. As mentioned previously the points system can be changed to suit the outcomes the coach wants to achieve.

Task 12 - Task 6
General - SSG - 6v6+ 4 common players on the outside (only allowed within their coned area)
50x50 yards - 10 mins
Play starts with the red GK. As it is a small sided game the aim is to score passed the opposition goalkeeper. This session allows for the reds to be creative as they can achieve more points for scoring goals in multiple ways. If the reds score a goal without using any of the common players they will get 1 point. If they use the initial common players and make a successful switch and score a goal they will get 2 points. If they score from a cross (from a common player) this will also get them 2 points. The points system can vary depending on how the reds react and what areas you would like them to improve on.
The point system should allow the players to be creative and use multiple ways of playing to score goals.
Challenges for the greens:
- Can they get the ball into their striker as soon as possible
- They are encouraged to shoot rather than play wide
- Limited touches (if required)
- Consistent time limit to shoot (if required)
