Body Part Dribbling

Body Part Dribbling:

- Coach tells players that when you yell out a body part, it becomes magnetized to the ball, and they must touch that body part to the ball- Fast!

- To start, all players randomly dribble around grid while coach calls out different body parts: foot, knee, elbow, stomach (no face touches)

Coaching Points:

-Encourage small touches to keep the ball close

-Point out and positively reinforce when players find different ways to touch the ball

Pattern Dribbling

Pattern Dribbling:

- For every 6-8 players, set up 25x25 yd grid, using additional cones to create smaller squares in each corner

-Players start at center of grid with balls. Coach assigns name to each corner box (numbers, colors, states, characters, etc.)

-Coach calls out name of box and each player must dribble to that box and race back to center

-Call different sequences to get players to move in different patterns and directions

Coaching points:

- Small touches when in tight spaces

-Bigger touches at speed when racing back to center

-Head up to locate box and avoid collisions

Tail Tag

Tail Tag:

- Every player has a ball and pinnie tucked into the back of their shorts (to make a tail)

- Players dribble around while trying to pluck tails from other players while trying to prevent their tail from being plucked

-When they take someone's tail, they can tuck it next to their own

-If player loses tail, they keep playing while trying to pluck other's tails

Coaching Points:

-Encourage players to get involved by trying to pluck tails, not just preventing

- Heads up and looking around for tail stealers

-Keep the ball close at all times
