Defensive position when covering in possession.
Coach plays a ball into when of the 3 defenders.
A - If the ball is passed to the RCB brings the ball out of defence, then the CB and LCB move across to cover, reducing the space left behind the defender that has moved forward (action is reversed if the RCB moves forward).
B - If the CB moves brings the ball out of defence, then the LCB & RCB come in to cover the space left behind the CB.
The same movements apply if one of the defenders moves up to support the midfield.

Defensive Positioning - 3 Defenders.Aim - What position a non-pressing defender should assume.
Session
- Players line up on the cone.
- Coach calls out number.
- Players react to number called and mov - Player opposite/nearest the pole allocated with that number called presses the pole whilst the other defenders cover.
When Pressing numbers 2->4 the non-pressing defenders push up, but not in line with with the pressing defender, this offers cover if pressing player is beaten, removes potential space and deters balls being played over the top. When pressing numbers 1 & 5, defensive line is flatter as there is less space behind the defence to cover.
