Continuous practice. Practice will initially start without the press so players get an understanding of the pattern. Players will pass to the left and will join the queue to their right. When the press is introduced the player directly opposite will press the player in possession to force them to play the pass under pressure. Change the direction of pass and move pattern after a number of attempts (pass right / move left).
Coaching Points:
- Quality and speed of passes
- Quality of ball control and receiving technique on the first touch
- Movement of receiving player from starting position to create space
- High-intensity press from defensive to put pressure on the player with the ball.
- Scanning shoulder just before receiving the ball.

4v2 in attackers own half of the field. Aim of the drill is for the attackers to play a through ball to a teammate in the attacking third. Rules:
- A through ball cannot be played on the first pass
- An attacker cannot dribble into the attacking third - they must receive the ball from a through ball into the attacking area.
- The defender in the attacking zone cannot press until the attackers first touch.
- Attackers and defenders rotate after 6 attempts to score. Defenders switch sides after 3 attempts
Coaching Points:
- Increased emphasis on support play
- Timing of decision to play a through-ball
- Weight and quality of through ball
- Timing and types of runs into the box
